Seeing Is Believing: Examining the Self
(Happy Valley, OR, April 12, 2022) Nationally recognized artist Micheline “Mickey” Ronningen will be exhibiting recent abstract paintings at the Sunnyside Health Center Gallery, Suite 200, 9775 SE Sunnyside Road, Clackamas, 97015 April 12 through July 12, 2022. Free parking. Show hours are 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Closed week-ends. This show is made possible through the Artists Exhibition Program sponsored by the Clackamas County Arts Alliance.
Many of these artworks are being shown live for the first time since the pandemic struck in 2019. Mickey wanted to say that “Although ‘virtual’ shows have offered artists a great way to maintain getting one’s work out to be seen by anyone in the world with computer access, there is nothing like experiencing original art in the here and now. Breathing the same air, so to speak. It totally transforms the art experience.”
Asked why she does art, Mickey says “My overall intent is to safely aid and engage people, one on one, in their personal quest for growth. Sometimes I do this through humor, escape, or intention. I use abstract art because I feel it is the most direct way into one another’s heart and mind: it is nonverbal yet speaks to those who can listen. It visualizes the unseen for the sighted.
“I do believe if we are to change society—create a diverse, sustainable world for all life— this can only be accomplished by first addressing one’s own state of being. If we have not learned or remembered to love ourselves, we cannot yet give love to others. If we always fight our family or neighbors, there is no peace. War is real. Climate change is real. Aggression, bullying is real. And of course there is the COVID virus and a host of other issues affecting wellness and development. Yet we persist to evolve.”
Show Days/Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. All work is priced for sale through the artist. To contact Mickey Ronningen directly use email: mickey@artmsr.com. To see more of her work visit: www.artmsr.com.
