“A central, yet not exclusive, part of my art is to encourage healing—encouraging emotional, spiritual, and intellectual evolution and growth. I do this by presenting ideas, translating abstract thought to a visual statement. Primarily these thoughts come from established wisdom, either verbal or written.
The need for change in our society is currently upstaging the desire for a return to normalcy caused by the pandemic. Change comes from within. It radiates to the community. Art has the power to beneficially effect this situation. My contribution focuses its sight on this strength.
The overall intent in my work is to invite viewers to kindly engage in internal scrutiny, escape or release through a deeper integration of visual cues and active investigation. Such engagement allows a person free roaming capacity, safe travels into one’s humanity. The supporting work samples [Images] highlight this intention.
My visual art is expressed in an abstract style. I use 2D images on canvas or paper, sometimes wood, and media tools: watercolor, acrylic paint, pigment marker, Micron and gel pen, graphite. Since coming out with my art to the public 9 years ago, I have produced over 400 compositions, enjoyed two local solo exhibits, contributed to 6 group shows nationally plus one in Portugal, for a total of 35 shows. Also I have work featured in The Art House Gallery’s worldwide edition of ‘Leaders in Abstraction: Volume I’ [https://thearthouse.us/exhibitions/leaders-in-abstraction-volume-i]. My husband (the techie, also nicknamed Mickey and a native Oregonian) and I maintain www.artmsr.com which includes a blog posting ‘Just Saying.’ The web site currently attracts about 1,000 new visitors per month. Of course I also participate on social media platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn), yet avoid Zuckerberg realms.
Sales and marketing have not proven to be part of my talents. Currently the purchasing audience is limited to friends and relatives in Oregon, Washington, California, and Illinois. I would like to hire W+K to promote my work, bringing added attention to Oregon art, our needs for support, growth, and development, and what Oregon artists offer. Weiden and Kennedy, Portland, have expressed interest in a tentative arrangement to work together in 2022. I need funding to accomplish this and contribute to Oregon’s position as a state sustaining and encouraging significant action by all visual artists.”
